ldc is looming!
Monday, May 24

wheeee math port, as or shauny calls mine, "mathporty", is finally finally out of the way as of today! gone (for now) are the days of sleepless nights of toiling against time! okay okay, it was just ONE sleepless night... but i can exaggerate, can't i? :D

it's week 10, week 10! and i don't know whether i'm supposed to be happy that the school term's ending, or to be exasperated that the holidays are going to be clouded with nonsense AGAIN. what with week 11, and studying for the exams, there's just so much to do! well at least there's one thing that i can definitely look forward to during the holidays - ldc!

the marvellous world of ldc, or bb, where wonderful lovely friends roam the place, with peers and juniors alike being in abundance, so many fun fun people to talk to! days and nights of pure fun. okay maybe not pure fun if the year2's discipline is bad... but you know what i mean.

yes indeed, it's been 3 years since i had my own ldc as a Boy, and i still remember back then i was already thinking 3 years into the future, thinking how i'd be running the camp as a primer. hohoho yes, i'm weird that way (: but admittedly, never in a billion years (or in this case, 3 years) would i have thought that i'd be vice-chairman of the exco... i thought i'd just be you know like some random group leader, being involved in the night games at most. but ah well, i'm not complaining :D

i still remember back then, i was thinking and hoping how cool it would be if ldc fell on my birthday, then for once i could be like with a huge group of friends on my birthday, instead of loafing around at home as i usually do during the holidays on my birthday :P you know how much more funner it is to be spending your birthday surrounded by people you love, be it in school or in a camp, the point is, there's people! and having company, even though admidst not very nice circumstances, more than outweighs any negative feelings sprouting forth, and is loads better than sitting around at home doing the random holiday nonsense...

with the previous batch of year5s going for their wow in the first week of june and postponing their ldc, i thought that my wish would be an extreme probability. but alas, it was all for naught, as wow was shifted to week 7 and there ended up being all this week 11 nonsense now :P but i digress, we're not here to talk about my birthday, we're here to talk about ldc!

so, even where things are now, with it being mere days before the camp, i am not sure how the camp will go. ta didn't turn out as i would have liked it to, and i'm not sure how ldc will turn out. things are not as settled as i'd like it, but with it being so close to crunch time, i don't think there's much of a choice. oh ib, why doth thou hath to treat us so! squandering our time which is so preciously and painstakingly accumulated from days which pass by, but now are but filled with the likes of IAs, essays, and portfolios. oh ib, ib, wherefore art thou, ib!

as for ldc, there's only one course of action left to take. of course, that is one that we've been aiming towards the entire time. though i can't help but feel that in more recent times, we've lost sight of this ultimate goal for our camp. rushing to churn everything out, be it year2 or primers groupings, or our primers parallel programme... is our reliance on God for such stuff no more than an opening prayer? assuredly it isn't. but yet, the opening prayer for our important albeit informal meetings seem nothing more but something said out of necessity. for minutes after the prayer is uttered, few remember the one true source of all things, and consult our feelings and rational thought, rather than the divine understanding of God for our decision making.

i must admit, i myself haven't been praying much for ldc in recent weeks. there really is so much more to be done. not administratively, but spiritually. can we not do much more? there is, after all, no limit to how much we can get ourselves involved in the spiritual realm! if we want to see a breakthrough in the lives of these year2s, just as God saw breakthrough through us 3 years back, we really need to turn our eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face. and indeed, the things of the earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.

3 years ago, i had a wish for ldc. now however, i have a prayer and hope for ldc. that God's will will transcend all human preparation. that He will turn up during the camp and show Himself to year2s, primers and officers alike. indeed, we need His divine intervention, and the best we can do is to facilitate His arrival. after all, if we want a guest-of-honour to come, we don't leave things in shambles lying around now do we! we make sure everything's all done up nicely for Him, and pray for Him to grace us with His presence. if we aren't doing this for God's glory and for His work to be done, then what are we doing this for?

because at the end of the day, this is all that matters.

God, please come, kay? (:

AMEN;
